20 is definitely old enough to know when you're saying something blatantly anti-black.
as in outright making fun of someones hair texture, or their skin color.....as it directly relates to their blackness.
making comparisons between people who appear unambiguously black to those who look mixed, and saying one is better than the other - in a maliciously divisive manner.
no one can convince me that they don't know what they're doing or saying when that's done. it's very clear and it's very intentional.
BUT i can understand him saying he's grown. and u also have to think about the environment someone was brought up in where certain things may have been acceptable or even encouraged, and perhaps even their experiences.
my grandmother would have dragged me from point A to point B if she ever heard me talking like that.
so i def knew better at 20
but i believe him when he says he's grown. unless the gorls can find receipts of him repeating similar mess within the past couple years.
