I also think most would be open to it if she just did it and didn't talk about it. Rather than referring to yourself as "I'm a rapper now," just refer to yourself as an artist - and that can take on many forms of expression. I think her calling herself a rapper comes across as her seeking permission and validation, instead of just doing it.
