For dark skinned women it's always "girl shut up u just bitter and angry. It's not cuz u was dark it's cuz u were ugly lmao"

For lighter skinned women it's "oh boo boo woe is me light girl 🙄 u were bullied we get it! Want a cookie!"

The way women are treated on opposite ends of the spectrum when they share their experiences actually gives credence to what they're saying happened to them. The whole "shut up darkie burnt ugly self " and "u just wanna remind us that u light skin! We get it! Stfu no one cares about ur alleged trauma "

Think about it

well said!!! anytime us lighter ppl speak up about what we have faced we get told to SHUT UP cause we are light its not that bad which isnt true.  it all sucks at the end of the day

The Only BLACK Kalmyks

And I'm really speaking to the larger conversation btw  ... not very familiar with this Meghan girl or her history
Project started: 2014 Wrapped up: 2024

Significant Discovery: First known Black American family of Kalmyk descent

Takeaways: Be prepared to pivot, even when you think you're on the right track. Be OK with being wrong so you can get things right.

Kalmyks are tribal Mongolic people who settled in Russia. It's estimated that only 300,000 Kalmyk descendants exist worldwide - with only 3,000 in America.

The problem is that she started an oppression volleyball game after asking the question. She asked Monaleo but insisted on sharing her own experience.

An experience which isn't even colorism.

!!

Megan's reaction was actually lowkey colorism disguised as "a vulnerable moment" that she thought she was giving.

I didn't view the entire clip so I can't speak to their interaction in full

But again , generally speaking , there is definitely a "oh woe is u, cry a river" or "stop bragging" attitude whenever a lighter skinned / mixed black woman brings up her trauma that is tied to her complexion.

If any of you aren't familiar with that and this is news to you that's understandable

This Meghan girl is a kii

She's def being extra . And making this all about herself

People asking u "are u mixed  :ohwow:  " is not a struggle and is not colorism

Usually if someone's asking something like that it's from a place of  curiosity and it's never malicious .

I get that. I haven't discounted her experience, just calling out that she, in my opinion, shouldnt be sitting up on a platform discussing a topic like colorism, saying she's experienced it because she was burdened with light skin and good hair  :plzstop:
