Yeah she def went in on her! I think she could've kept it calm at "it's Ms. Angelou"

The girl seemed sweet too and corrected herself immediately. I understand why Maya did that as a respect your elders thing but it was lowkey too much

Palladium

sssdddd

Tell ha Queen!

I didn't see the harm. She could have kept it cute but she obviously wanted to use the moment as a teachable one

DopeSoul.

She kinda dragged it

Like gorl all that "I'm in yo auntie..great grandma on the daddy side"

She could've kept that

She could've saved that moment for one of the disrespectful whites who I'm sure were also in the audience.

No, I'm sure she forgot what the question was. I think Princess was too perky for ha so she had to shut it down.

That generation takes it very seriously when called by their first name mess. Like it's the ultimate sign of disrespect or something

I think she was tryna hold back from really going in on that girl so the alternative was babbling for eternity

I remember my grandmother overheard me referring to my 2nd grade teacher by her first name ...

Let's just say that never happened again.  :omf:
Project started: 2014 Wrapped up: 2024

Significant Discovery: First known Black American family of Kalmyk descent

Takeaways: Be prepared to pivot, even when you think you're on the right track. Be OK with being wrong so you can get things right.

Kalmyks are tribal Mongolic people who settled in Russia. It's estimated that only 300,000 Kalmyk descendants exist worldwide - with only 3,000 in America.

Are you disrespecting the elders and ancestors?

L0NZ.

Yes. Just cuz they old doesn't mean they aren't BITCHES

Marilyn

I disagree. In general I wouldn't call a senior citizen from around the way by their first name, much less someone as revered her. Even with older co-workers it's Ms. Glenda and Ms. Beverly. It ain't natural for me to just say their first name.
