crunk aint dead

There's a reason you're sharing viral stories instead of firsthand experience .

Can u guess what it Is

crunk aint dead

If u guessed "because it's not common" that would be correct

It's also the reason carlee's story got so much interest and press as well

It's bizarre. Uncommon. Interesting.

Black women go missing every day but it was the unusual elements of carlees story that caught headlines .

So it's most likely the child's parents/legal guardians doing this

Is this an opinion too?

None of this changes that this is still speculative lolz.

Quote from: Black Aweikoma on July 19, 2023, 04:39:40 PMPeople won't admit this but the fact that her story was so outrageous is a huge reason it even got so much attention.

Everyone's acting as if these stories pop up every week for black women (even though statistically a significant number of them are missing and exploited each year), saying this will have such a huge impact on these other imaginary weekly/monthly headlines and the effort that would be put into them  , when we really don't see it often - or at all.

If anything it'll be business as usual. This story was edgy and interesting - way more than your typical "Black woman disappeared that's all the info we have at this time " story. If people are willing to admit that's a huge part of what ignited their interest they may have an easier time forgiving Carlee.

u reminded me ...i wanted to come back to this post.

ran across an article that kinda touched on what i said.
which was published a couple days later :

Carlee Russell: A missing Black woman and a social media frenzy, explained
(What the viral story of a missing Alabama woman says about all of us)

QuoteAnd in this case, it seems clear that while our culture is obsessed with salacious-sounding crimes, we're also, whatever the truth of this case turns out to be, deeply fascinated by the idea of scam artists.

There are, unfortunately, countless real stories of missing Black women and children, like Relisha Rudd, an 8-year-old who went missing in Washington, DC, in 2014 and still hasn't been found.

The public, and the media, will likely move on from Russell's story soon. Finding Rudd, and other missing children and adults, remains just as urgent as it was before social media discovered the Russell case, and will remain just as important once it moves on.

🙄

anyhoo

such a kii to see people on social media being so outraged about carlee making a spectacle of herself and in turn diminishing the seriousness of real "missing" cases for black women

but at the same time sharing all these memes and jokes about the situation

haha! woo gorl! das funny!

at what point do u realize you're actually part of this spectacle and mockery that u seem so concerned about?
do u really take this seriously?

like it's OK if you don't, but just cut the crap.
