Everyone's acting as if these stories pop up every week for black women (even though statistically a significant number of them are missing and exploited each year), saying this will have such a huge impact on these other imaginary weekly/monthly headlines and the effort that would be put into this , when we really don't see it often - or at all.
If anything it'll be business as usual. This story was edgy and interesting - way more than your typical "Black woman disappeared that's all the info we have at this time " story. If people are willing to admit that's a huge part of what ignited their interest they may have an easier time forgiving Carlee.

No all the girls are on Twitter givin that
"Oh mah gah this is gonna affect all the other nationwide searches for black women!"
Maybe it would affect the effort put into another outrageous story that grabs headlines and trends
but I doubt it ...
cuz anything that's edgy and outrageous enough to grab headlines and trend will put bright lights on whatever police department is in that jurisdiction that should be handling the resolution .
It's their job to get it done and when the bright lights are on people and somethings WAY out in the open , people tend to feel some pressure and get their jobs done . So honestly there's nothing even to worry about there .
Hopefully Carlee gets the help she needs
