Trina has always aligned herself with Dominicans and that's definitely very Dominican behavior ..

A lot of Dominicans , especially the strongly anti-black ones , cannot stand Haitians and will use that type of language towards them . "Dusty" for instance .

There's definitely underlying tea in a lot of the language which is usually drenched in internalized racism and colorism

Look how Haitians are treated in the DR.

But Her father came out years ago to say she was lying about his family being of Dominican descent

There's a huge Haitian population in NYC and I've never had one horrible encounter with one

They're usually just cool af and proud of their culture . They don't bother anyone

It's the most African country in the western hemisphere - and honestly I think a lot of the hatred towards them stems from that.

Voodoo is one of the practices they preserved from their enslaved African ancestors

I'd compare the way people talk about Haiti to how people talk about Atlanta. Yes there are no direct or overt references to race but there is almost always an underlying condescension and disgust with a lot of comments thrown at an area which is heavily known for its Blackness.

That's why some Haitians are calling this a slur, or recognize comments like this as slurs.
