They tend to tease you with statements like 'new music coming soon' and 'I will tour,' creating a sense of anticipation instead of being straightforward. It's somewhat disappointing that, except for Beyonce, not many of the women in their 40s are delivering. I'm not sure what they are going through, but I wish them the best. I notice Patti, Dionne, and Gladys appearing on more tv shows and stages than any of the girls from the '90s. It's quite a shame.
hey bruce bby
i'd imagine its more exhausting for the gorls of the 90s cuz they are kinda in that midpoint between the old school era and the streaming/social media era .
they've kinda had to fight those fights of napster, illegal downloads, social media lashings, higher expectations from their fanbases for constant interaction/engagement....
all while restructuring their approach to remain relevant to the gorls in their late teens and 20s
patti and the rest of them can just chill out and perform when they want to. that's probably why they still enjoy it. their core fans are well beyond the years of twitter and instagram and tik tok, etc.
beyonce has been very intentional with how she messes around with social media, etc. honestly i think that's a huge reason why she's sustained .
i think she too was clearly overwhelmed with the idea of going from giving that 90s "unreachable/untouchable celeb" mystique to having to be a social media butterfly and dealing with all the BS and nonsense that comes with it. so she just kinda avoided it altogether. but she can kinda afford to do that with the massive fanbase she has. not every gorl has that luxury.
and we cannot forget the joe jackson-esque training she got from matthew. that helps
