If she's of mixed lineage no problem acknowledging all of who she is, unless she's saying "I'm not black" in a tone of disgust or something.

That to me is when the issue creeps in. She looks mixed to me but I can clearly see Black is part of that mixture .

Not sure of the details of the story though.

We just need to realize that a lot of people in other countries think "black = African American "

As in , our specific ethnic group.

Not being of African descent in general.

I can actually appreciate people making the distinction because "black" culture and the "black" experience is def a thing of its own.

Saying "I'm Black" is so loaded and so powerful.

if i encounter a black person who seems to have an issue with blackness at the most I'll side eye them

I don't feel it's my job to pull them over

But if I see them saying things to hurt other black people.... Making fun of physical and cultural attributes of blackness

That's usually when I'll start fuming and drag tf out of them.

I definitely feel it's all of our responsibilities to call certain things out. Things that can hurt others... especially black women for me personally.
