But on the other hand , I can understand that some people do not want to "play the victim" . Ultimately, to be oppressed is to be victimized and some people (especially those with inflated egos and delusions of grandeur) get very uncomfortable with that.
However , and this is a BIG however , when it's clear there is an issue that the Black community has collectively rallied behind... it is your responsibility , at your big age, to realize that it's best that you STAY ON CODE.
Meaning, putting your personal feelings and discomfort aside for the greater cause. Even if that means just shutting your fucking mouth and not saying a word - if you have nothing productive to say. That's better than saying something that not only invalidates the experiences of those in question but also provides AMMO to the gorls who would love to use you as their prime example that Black people need to just "pull themselves up by the bootstraps."
And yeah y'all can post those car insurance commercials and her resume in here as some sort of validation to her statement , but guess what... Angela Bassett would NEVER and she's not somewhere doing car commercials or sitting next to Claudia Jordan on a got damn YouTube show.
So this whole "here's why she has the right to say that" mess is ridiculous .
Vivica is catching heat for good reason and I hope she learns something valuable from it. Mess like this gives credence to the idea that "Black people never stick together."
