I just joined again in 2023, I was consistently banned up to maybe 2021. It was very odd, because I have also been know to support Brandy, I have posted videos and photos of me and her numerous times. However years ago, I was known as a Monica stan, and I was known to defend Monica at any cost.
I would come on here over the years and post once and each time I would be immediately banned. Based off of things I may have said 18 years ago lmao.
But for the original question, I think as the people on this board started to mature this board as a whole did not. With the majority of members being in their 30s and some early 40s the conversations should have shifted a bit. This board attracted a lot of RnB fans, and maybe would have good to have pivoted to a more general theme.
However all-in-all, this board has outlasted almost any other RnB Fan board, and there were a lot of them back in the day.
i disagree
im actually thankful to some members on here
when i moved to the south in my latter 20s, i was legit confused about all the racial TENSION i was feeling. and i expressed that on here.
and also other stuff like people being so fixated on color, and hair texture. it threw me off
i got dragged for being so naive, especially after my infamous "white lady on a plane " thread. sfsfbfsbsfbfbfsb
but im so grateful for those conversations. i needed them.
my grandparents, who raised me, never really discussed things like that. i mean my grandpa is a darker skinned man with icy blue eyes and my grandma is a lighter skinned woman....there was enough variety in my family for me to know that people are just different.
although i ALWAYS knew from my grandparents that "anti-blackness" (making fun of people JUST for being and looking Black) wasn't OK and always stood against up that - as one user in this very thread can attest to....(a very long time ago when i was admin, I reached out to them to ask them if they wanted me to take action against people who were making "jokes" about their skin color...and they said it was OK so i left it alone.)
but the NUANCES of racism and colorism, and even "texturism" were definitely lost on me. i had to learn why this stuff is actually a big deal. and it actually helped me develop more empathy for Black people who say things like "blackie" or "nappy headed", etc. as i learned they are victims themselves.
so i have to def push back on the idea that conversations didn't evolve on this board. we def went further and deeper than "who sold more?" or "who looks better?"
we've had some grown ass conversations on here. a lot of them got MESSY, but i can say i gained something from it.
but i agree BSource has certainly stood the test of time. my baby. they hated on the formula but for a GHan related board we kinda did that.
squid has done an AMAZING job as I knew he would - when i transferred the domain over to him permanently.
i'd even say he's better than i was an admin in certain aspects...especially his ability to remain neutral as possible.
