It's the same thing we all said about Barack Obama, who is more white and removed from the culture than kamala. The girls had gone on about their business and now Janet has brought them back out.
I know she's not a descendant of slaves. But she is black by race and the white man's standard and she is American. If you draw distinctions and feel strongly about it, say what you gon say
But some of these folks harp on this constantly. It really doesn't have ANYTHING to do with the policies and the clear choice in front of us during this election. People are conflating the two things by either trying to make her out to be a liar or saying she's an imposter. Tell that to her high school or college friends, or her sorority sisters. Kamala has never said she was fba. She is black and she is vice president of the United States.
it's actually very likely Kamala is a descendant of enslaved people ...considering she has an Afro-Jamaican dad.
its just not a specific FBA/ADOS heritage .
I considered that as well. And that's another thing that makes this "conversation" so exhausting. People have gone from informed or "woke" to flat out chaos agents.. It's really not that important when we been voting for white men since the inception of this country
it's about Black Americans having our own specific history and connections with one another
and understandings of one another.
just because someone else comes from an enslaved background from another country doesn't mean they will understand or connect with you.
I've seen PLENTY of people from other countries who have African roots and will make the distinction of them NOT being Black American.
even people who assumed I am from somewhere else and started talking shit about Black Americans,
thinking they were in safe space to do it. and ended up getting lashed
yes RACIALLY Black is Black...an African was an African
but it goes further than that. i think that's what people are missing
if Black Americans wanna make distinctions, let them do it. other groups do this ALL THE TIME.
