for them to turn around and use her scratchy less inspired take for the final is just criminal

I want to blame bran  cause I know she loves to re record the life out of things but  I blame the others in this one they had a good take of it and they were directing her right  I dunno what happened

That "no mater whaaaaat I'm going through" pissed me off because each time it got worse, although she actually hit it enough times previously. He kept having her sing the whole line when they could just have been recording all the attempts and just punched the perfect one in.

I watched this thinking the same thing.  Like, she sounds good HERE but that final version of her vocals are MEH asl. I hate tha way that Brandy records sound sometimes. I think she focuses so much on all these layers, stacks, bgvs, etc that her lead vocals just kinda fall to the wayside. That's why I like "WITHOUT YOU" so much. I'm not even OVER THE MOON about the song. I was just so excited to hear a song where her vocals were the fckn focal point of the damn song 🙄

I actually like the extra raspy sound on the final take of this song. It fit the churchy feel of the song and Patti & Queen Latifah's vocals.
Although in general I agree that she re-records too much and chooses the wrong takes

   she overlayers and lots of times its gratuitus and doesnt have a reason to be so layered
In addition to that shes in a make it sound like baby bran mode
All of the b7 re records were lighter softer more airy
Borderline and saving all my love were raw punchy and gritty she rerecorded them to sound more whiney and brighter i still prefer the camper leak of saving  but yeah her layering all willy nilly without a good team isnt the best idea
