it's literally not something that's new AT ALL.  Since Monica is a trending person today, Monica added for you i will to the boy is mine.  An album that came out 3 YEARS after it's release.  Why WOULDNT an artist add an already successful song to an album they have coming out that isn't already on one of their previous albums? That would be dumb and a missed opportunity 

this is a completely different time and situation. The For You I Will track didn't automatically make Monica's album platinum, she had to start from zero, but it was nice to have a familiar song on there.
Some ppl let their stand alone songs just be that
Like Sittin Up in My Room wasn't just attached to NSN.
Bey didn't put Check On It on B'Day etc

But album sales are tracked differently now. But it's WHY Bey rereleased "B'day" as a deluxe edition with a whole other album on it. Different era slightly different sale tactics

Cardi is doing the exact same thing except now in 2025 she KNOWS she gonna reap the benefits of putting old hits on an album. She's working the system AS SHE MF SHOULD

it is still very different. You don't have to buy the album to get those old songs anymore so this is not some incentive to buy the album and generate sales. It's just a cop out in case the new music flops
and Ok Nicki did it too. I'm not defending her right now, just pointing out Cardi clearly being afraid to stand on her new music
