i think we're so used to/grew up seeing these
borderline pretentious ads from companies
so someone saying a silly ad is "off brand" for a company to me is simply another way of saying "this is BENEATH THEM".
which makes sense.
and that's exactly what they're tryna get away from. they're tryna go from this:

we've seen this kinda happen in the music industry with artists being pushed to be more "relatable!" and "fun!" and "personality!" driven . and that whole air of

-ness and mystique going completely out of style - with very few exceptions. much due to social media
the same thing is happening for companies in other industries now IMO its their turn to update their software
