I get it, but this seems so self-serving.

Some things should be kept to yourself. Just my opinionata.

It could also be my bias talking because I can't really stand Alfonso anyway.

Don't forget to include a picture of your great great great grandmother who had a 5% dutch ancestry like Van der Beek.

Following by an username change to sumn like "Ik ben zwart, maar ook wit, zij het een beetje."   :young:

but in all seriousness

i think long dramatic essays on social media for birthdays, deaths, etc. are dated in 2026

short and sweet is in. IMO
especially considering people's attention spans on social media are as a fraction of what it used to be years ago

anything more than that, u run the risk of being seen as performative

the text equivalent of crying as you record yourself on your phone.

I don't think that's the main issue hun

It's about making it all about yourself.

"Oh i'm so sad he/she's passed away. I'm heartbroken because when I was little my family (...) and I suffered so much (...)  I posted this picture with him/her (...) I learned, I cried, I suffered, I did this, I did that, oh and RIP I guess"

The worst kind of people.

unless it's an immediate family member i dont see how thats called for either

and honestly that still kinda goes back to what i said about keeping it short and sweet

if you simply type "rest in peace, terrific guy" and call it a day - there's not even a chance for u to wander off into making it about yourself.

as i mentioned : the more u write in an instance like that, the more u run the risk of turning it into a performance

i prefer to keep it clean, simple, classy with a touch of empathy of course.

member of my old church family passed recently and i simply added to what her niece said...... in a comment to HER post.

although i knew her well, no need to get dramatic and AHHHH OMG! NOOOOOOOO!!!! lemme MAKE A POST!!!!!! 😫 😫

acknowledge the tea and move along.

most important thing is the family knows your heart is with them. kii'ing online and addressing real life loss are two TOTALLY different things.
