I was literally just coming on here to post this.  I'm kinda SHOOK tbh. They got Aretha to do the other and BRANDY to do this one.  She really is a mf legend huh

Brandy being asked to do it really puts her in the Aretha-ness of it all.

Reminds me of when Angie Stone said she knew Brandy was the next "little miss Aretha Franklin" in terms of influence when she heard "I Wanna Be Down."

I get the production critiques but to me the production is very NOW and I see it being very fitting for this version. Does anyone know if its gonna be JUST sitcom or will there be a dramatic aspect as well?

Aretha's version was the BEST from the original series. I believe she recorded it in one take.

BIIM was good too, however, I didn't particularly care for Phoebe Snow's version.
