releasing a video doesnt mean anything if the song isnt heard outside of the net
some people think social networks and views means everything. What about the thousands and thousands of people that just dont enter on music sites? or click on the artist's youtube channel?
they just wont know the song ever, period. Thats why radio is important. If 100 radio stations all over the country play your song, you get heavy attention. But if your song is just played on 3 local stations, it wont do anything on the charts, or sales wise.
This is the reality of the industry. And if some artists dont have radio support (for whatever reason) they have to push on OTHER formats, tv being the strongest one (after radio).
and doing a small tour wont do much either, when only your fans are attending. So....
Just releasing a song/video online isnt enough. If some people really think that, they're pretty naive
