Crying @ the thread title

Terrence totally didn't get what they meant. not even all that light! I don't even see the big deal as far as THIS movie is concerned, but for him to address it the way he did :uhh: ch. he's more intelligent than that

!!!! He should have kept it at "I'm not that light and I am for all shades of my people" instead of going into that tangent of "oh and I have black friends! I went to a black uni!"  :plzstop: :plzstop:

Herb.

still catching up with the mess in this thread. :plzstop: :plzstop:

I just think if more of us dark skinned people would simply embrace and celebrate our skin it would remove some of the stigma that comes with saying "dark skin". It's a shame how its damn near considered an insult, to the point where people will do anything to remove themselves far from the vicinity of the term.

It's no reason this thread should be 51 fucking pages.  :plzstop: But I get it. Some things are more easily said than done, especially dealing with mess that has been PLANTED in our heads for generations.

Boy, this ain't no "mindset." It's kind of reality from experiences and stories.
I never seen a light skin nigga portrayed as a thug in a fucking movie.
you've also never seen a slew of popular black films

and you know this how :uhh:

Iono about glen but i dont ever feel like I've been treated like shit for my complexion.  U can't generalize something like that. If anything the DARK niggers would be the ones bitter and mad and pointing out the differences and someone lighter would be giving a "we all black" because they're given such a hard time
Vonc, the reality is that dark skin people are sometimes looked down upon in the black community, colorism is real. You just had to tell someone to stop calling you soot in here :plzstop: but it goes back to me originally being against the darkie jokes on you and mess. I never thought it was cute and I was ready to touch some scalps about it until you told me it was cool. All jokes! Fun! But I knew there would come a time where you would be offended by it or get tired of it.

AIDS!

All this yellow, brown, tinted, undertones mess
Are we at Sephora?

But im not offended by it nor am i "tired" of it.  Im not insecure about being darkskinned,  so honestly idgaf if people say that because it's not some terrible thing for me.  However,  The intention behind it is something i might have a problem with.  It's not different from letting friends talk to you a certain way and being able to laugh because u know it's in jest VS someone on the street saying the same thing but maliciously. I have white friends that i can joke about race with, not something every white person and i are going to do. "Darkskinned" ain't that damn deep for me, but disrespect will get u cursed da fck out

This is my pass to say WHATEVER tf I wanna say about the mess she releases so I don't wanna hear SHIT! Baby mama is a mess of a song btw

People will only treat you in the manner you allow them to. You can't compare it to white people vs black people because colorism and all related jokes are generally internal. This isn't a white person calling you soot it's another Black person. But you're OK with Black people calling you these names so why does that suddenly change?  If another faggot is calling me a faggot, whether in fun or an argument the word is still meaningless from them to me. :dead: If I allow one faggot to call me a faggot, why can't the next?  :plzstop: But mess. I don't want to argue about it because you're not getting my point.
