QuoteGiven this "despicable conduct," she says in the complaint, she has "every right to terminate, and has now terminated, her recording contract with defendants."

OK so reading over this for a third time, it would appear as if she has already terminated her contract with Chameleon and is suing them for financial losses, as well as POSSIBLY beating them to the punch before they sue her for terminating the contract. That's what I think is happening. I think this is really just to cover her ass as she moves forward because we know she's been recording and releasing music and plan to continue to do so. The rumors about her signing with epic sprouted a year or so or go so this isn't new to her, or her plans.

I hope this is true! My gosh, Brandy is like my homegirl. Like don't fuck with her!  :uhh:

QuoteBrandy Norwood, the 37-year-old singer behind hits like ?Have You Ever?? and ?The Boy Is Mine,? has filed suit against her record label Chameleon Entertainment and its president, Breyon Prescott, according to documents obtained by EW.

In the complaint, filed with L.A.?s Superior Court on Tuesday, the singer alleges her label ?will not pay for her to record new albums or allow her to otherwise release music to her fans? in ?a blatantly unlawful attempt to bully Norwood into signing a new recording and distribution agreement containing terms far worse than her current agreement.?

Brandy is seeking $1 million in compensatory damages. The documents allege that Prescott, who is reportedly employed by Epic Records as a head of A&R, attempted to have Norwood sign a new recording and distribution contract with the label, which would allow the company to profit from Norwood?s acting and touring projects.

The lawsuit also alleges that Chameleon balked after Brandy released 2012?s Two Eleven, which was supposed to be the first of a five-album deal. The allegations suggests that ?pursuant to the Agreement, Chameleon was obligated to pay recording costs for the second album in the amount of $600,000,? 10 percent of which it would owe ?promptly following receipt of notice that Norwood had commenced recording of the second album.?

But according to the lawsuit, ?events occurred that led Defendants to want to delay Norwood from working on her second album.? Norwood?s legal team alleges that RCA, the label that distributed Norwood?s albums on behalf of Chameleon, terminated its distribution deal for her albums leaving Chameleon ?in a bind.?

Additionally, the lawsuit alleges that Chameleon suspended Norwood?s contract in April 2014, sending her a letter wherein the company accused her attorney of telling Chameleon?s president that she had ?failed to cooperate? with the label.

In January, Brandy released a new single ?Beggin & Pleadin? and spoke to EW about new music: ?There?s definitely [an album] in the works. I?m recording in Los Angeles. I?m working, singing, and I?m ready. Nothing is going to get in my way.?

Reps for Brandy, Epic, and Chameleon did not immediately respond to EW?s request for comment.

QuoteBrandy is suing a record label that she says has refused to allow her to release new music.

The Grammy-winning singer sued Chameleon Entertainment Group in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, claiming it won't allow her to record or release new music in an attempt to get her to sign a new recording deal.

The suit says Brandy signed with Chameleon in 2011, which released her album "Two Eleven" in 2012. The deal gave Chameleon the option to release four more Brandy records, but her suit says the label refused to allow her to record a new album.

The lawsuit says Brandy terminated her contract with Chameleon but wants a judge's ruling that it is void.

An email sent to Chameleon seeking comment was not immediately returned Wednesday.

QuoteBrandy sued a record label for more than $1 million, alleging breach of an agreement to record albums.

The 37-year-old singer?s Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit against Chameleon Entertainment Inc. and its president, Breyon Prescott, alleges intentional interference with contract and business relations as well as a violation of the state Business & Professions Code.

A representative for Chameleon Entertainment could not be immediately reached for comment.

The suit states Brandy and Chameleon entered a recording contract in May 2011. The label released the singer?s first album under a five-album deal in October 2012, but suspended the agreement in April 2014 to delay having to pay her, the suit alleges.

Chameleon Entertainment then tried to convince Brandy to agree to a new recording and distribution contract with Epic Records that would have required her to pay Epic 15 percent of all income she earned from acting, touring and live engagements, the suit alleges.

As a result of the suspension, Brandy has been unable to complete the second album under the agreement, according to her court papers. She was owed $60,000 as of the time she announced she was beginning work on the second album, the suit alleges.

Chameleon Entertainment has refused to lift the suspension of the agreement, accordoing to the lawsuit.

All this does is explain why everything took forever and we were all pissed and frustrated. The performance and video to follow? That's all still coming lol I wouldn't be all that worried y'all. This has probably been going on a while and we're just now catching wind of it

I knew of their turmoil back during the DYK campaign (and so did she btw) and he's

A 5 album deal? Damn. But I remember that Sean Garrett interview where he said $700,000 was spent on 2/11. And the article states the second album they would have paid $600,000. I think signing a deal for that many albums is a double-edge sword. If you sign a one or two album deal, the label may not invest as much into your albums and promo. If you sign a 5 album deal, they may hold you hostage.

This is all mess. But I don't have access to anyone's contract so I'm not going to speculate.

She was probably optimistic and believed he had her best interest. I'm sure she didn't expect anything shady to happen. Just a lesson learned. I'm not gonna blame her for anything. I have a feeling that she genuinely wanted to release music much sooner.

brocka4life

And Brandy is TOO established as a singer and as an actress to sign anyone's 360 deal.
I don't think anyone with her acting credits should have to sign one.
