Why did she sign the deal? ..... This question is reductive at this point.

She signed because she wanted 5 FUNDED fucking albums....get it!

QuoteBrandy, who signed with Chameleon Entertainment in 2011, originally sued the label in Los Angeles Superior Court in March of this year. That lawsuit was dismissed earlier this month because Brandy?s recording contract with Chameleon contained a forum selection clause that specified all claims, disputes or agreements would be resolved through New York state or federal courts.

Well that's good to hear.

I wish her luck with this.

I just don't understand, if the deal was so criminal and slavery why was it agreed to? He couldn't go in and change anything that you had not agreed to. I think the courts probably dismissed it because honestly it looks like an artist who made a regretful decision and just wants out.

But she agreed to it. :stressed: A contract is powerful
!

All these years of experience to end up here smh

That's what happens when you don't believe in yourself.
Brandy was signing a deal at a time she felt that she wasn't "needed" or "worthy".
It's a shame.

!!!!

Why did I hear the "Learn The Hard Way" ad-lib when reading "it's a shame" :dead:

No shade, but I think it may be a blessing in disguise.
I don't think Brandy will ever take her RIGHT to do music (HER WAY) for granted, no whatever the outcome, anymore...

That's a very bad reason to sign a 5 album deal with a no name company..

Especially if that advance wasn't 20 million or more

Yuck

This is very foolish

The courts dismissed it on the grounds of a venue clause. Are any of y'all actually reading the documents and articles?

It may seem crazy to the outside, even to Tyra Banks (I agreed with what Tyra was saying)...

A few people on social are claiming that networks are trying to sell her on a reality show that will follow her through this ordeal and the aftermath. I believe it, but don't think she'd go that route.

He's not living up to his half of the deal. He didn't put forth the funds he was suppose to. No where in the original contract does it say he has the right to FORCE her into another deal.

That's the prob

That's not the problem
The problem was the deal that was proposed after the imprint deal was done..
Once chameleon got dropped from RCA.. He got a deal through epic and wanted bran to do a 360 that would make sure they received money they put into the future projects back!

This is a slap on the wrist for 2/11s poor performance

Which was all RCA and Bryeonns fault

But she's quoted as stating that it is the contents of the original contract that are comparable to slavery.

It is slavery if she working that hard for half funded projects. A slave does a lot of work with little to no pay out. Unfortunately she wouldn't know the funds were inadequate until the ball was already rolling. The girl was on the road begging for a 3rd single that already charted.

Well I did use the word "probably" with my guess. Honestly I don't care enough to sift through exhibit A thru Z. But I can tell GHan realizes she made a mistake.

I believe the public needs music in droves, tho.
Brandy has had SIX TOTAL SINGLES in the past 12 years... Just 6.
