I appreciate the fact that he's trying to be "deep" and write meangingful lyrics, but where the talent aspect comes in is being able to incorporate that into an actual song with structure. Anyone can write stream of consciousness thoughts down and put a beat behind it. Developing that into a definable chorus and versus is where the challenge lies. People give him WAY too much.

  stay mad. It's just my opinion. Obviously there are artists that churn out generic shit (as a Ciara stan I feel like this should be overwhelmingly obvious) with a standard verse/chorus/bridge/chorus. I'm just saying he could apply his lyrics to something with a bit more structure. His music feels overly lazy.
