the blood isn't exposed to air if it's in a needle. it's in a confined space, no air can get in or out

that's why many people get infected by sharing needles.
the blood in the needles aren't hitting g the air...the infected blood just sits in the needle

that's also why they say not to step on or go near, or play with a needle you might find on the street
