Beautiful? Yes she was.. A star? Not so fucking much!
Well she was a star in her own right
But to be compared to Beyonc? and to see some of her stans really bet her against Monica and Brandy..
She was literally at the bottom In terms of star power, hits and vocal talent

No one worshiped her until her demise
And That's kinda the truth!

But you can't deny the tremendous improvement and growth  she made from where she was in terms of  raw talent in this video , up until the point of her death when she released the red album. This performance just isn't one of her best and all artists have those moments. I agree with you about the vocal talent though . It's ridiculous to compare her to Brandy or Beyonc?. But Aaliyah was talented in her own right with a beautiful voice. And she had  star quality.

Aaliyah would've transcended perfectly into this generation. More than a lot of older artist.
Its a reason her pics stay getting reblogged and the "Hip kids" live for her.
A lot of people have died and this younger generation just doesn't care.

You don't hear any new artist talking about "Monica inspired me to sing." or "Monica's music touched me and blah blah blah"
Monica is nothing but a hoodlum singer who had success in her teen years and that's it.
I'm sure if Monica was to pass away, the general public wouldn't care as much because Monica never brought anything special to the game.
Aaliyah had a beautiful voice, had stage presence, dope sense of style and was an all around great performer.
