I use facebook for news at this point
And snapchat is really for my immediate circle

I stopped using social media for their main purposes years ago. It doesn't seem progressive towards growth

Yea Bee I agree about the likes = worth thing

I sat and watched my lil cousin do a play by play of likes on his picture until it got to 103.

And he was intensely worrying it wouldn't get that. I was a bit disturbed, it's as if it gave him a sense of worth.

Haven't figured out how to talk to him about it yet tho

I alos hate how it ruined the mysticism around celebs. Social media has shown that most of the people we worship are dumb as hell.

And I hate when somebody is texting a lot, so you call, and they act annoyed that they had to answer ... and THEN start up another text convo when you hang up after 2 min of awkward silence

So you're one of those kinda guys Unless I agree for you to call.... Don't.

Now i agree with this. Don't call me out the blue if we're texting. BUT i am more of a phone person, so I'll just suggest a call too after a while. If they don't wanna talk, I'll just not respond until I'm in the mood to text again

To answer the quest'...it has it's pros and cons. Social media has given a voice to people who previously had no other outlet and sparked a new career path for a lot of people our age. On the flip side, it helps to highlight some of the uglier aspects of society (shallowness, violence, talentless ass people looking for attention and validation etc; )

Use it to your advantage and don't let it consume your personal life.

In regard to the cons, I always think about e-bullying, self esteem, and sexuality. How these things have been exacerbated or harmed by social media.

In the past, you get your ass kicked in high school and only the folks who were there can spread word of it. But the pain will eventually go away. Now with SM things like this are immortalized.

Then people literally feel better than others because they have more likes or followers than their peers. People gauge their worth by how prominent they are on social media.

I would fuckin never wanna grow up during this era.

!!! A girl at my cousin's school was sleeping over a friend's house and they took pics of her while she in the shower and put them on facebook. It spread all through the school and her own family was on fb sharing it. She tried to kill herself not too long because of it.

My problem with someone calling out of the blue is that more than likely im texting other people at the same time.

I can talk and text as long as the convo is stimulating. I don't like random calls if Im my zone but otherwise its cool.

Im in a weird place involving communication with others. I good friend of mine hit me up a few weeks after some shit went down in my life. Oh, seen something on snap! What happ'?

I took offense to that cuz im like, why are you getting updates on my life through SM, that shit is surface level. It's like we're all so content with how SM has stripped the intimacy from things.

So I have been trying to make sure I don't do the same and be more present in people's lives off of SM but people kinda: when I shoot a random text or call to talk.
