I guess I use to be a big follower of one particular artist (brandy) so then I have a hard time finding someone that gives me the same. At least in the same genre.

I guess this is why I use to say that I dont exactly like r&b music, but BRANDY.
Pop or Indie music is a whole different thing, tho. I use A LOT of indie artists. They give me what mainstream ones dont give me: diversity, new sounds, feelings, vibes... unique and special music. Basically fresh and organic stuff. unlike most mainstream music, that many if not most of it are an established pattern. Same producers, same beats, same melodies, same adlibs... I dont connnect

So is that why you use Tinashe? Because she's indie and had something to offer differently

I guess so. I knew Tinashe like most people, with 2 on, but really knew her hearing her mixtapes, thats where I started using her. Same thing with Dawn basically.

Dawn right now is loosing it, but her work with Druski >>>>>>> most of urban girls, at least to me. no shade to anyone. I just need NEW and different stuff. Im not here for late Brian cox productions, sorry.

I use Tinashe and Dawn because they give something more experimental, with their mixtapes. I use Kelela too. Starting to use Justine Skye now too. I liked Frank's Ultra mixtape, Miguel Kaleidoscope dream...... some new girls have great mixtapes and promising sounds too, like Victoria Monet and a few more. All of this is my cup of tea.

the rest of the urban market/girls like Kelly, Monica and the like?......... not exciting, sorry.

I use Drake previous albums too, specially the one where he worked with The Weeknd before he broke out, the Take care Drake and all that era

And I used to like Chris Brown music a few years ago, and many of his singles... but he lost my respect this year.

You don't gotta apologize. Hey you like what you like.  :letsmessfag: if that's your musical preference cool. I was just curious.

I wasnt apologysing, darling, I just wanted to shared a bit my reasons/tates with you, since you seemed interested.

Ive heard plenty of other talented black artists in the latest years, tho not as known by general audience, and people not from the r&b genre, but people that have different influences and mix sounds a bit. Do you know Ayo for example? she's really good, more for a mature/different audience.
Someone a bit more known and discovered recently, Seinabo rey, for example. She's great imo

JRocka

taylor swift
tamar braxton
drake
monica (aside from ATS & Still Standing)
