http://www.bet.com/shows/soul-train-awards/2016/honorees/brandy-lady-of-soul.html

This sick ass timeline tho'. I may cry when this show airs.

Great timeline. They missed a few cool and relevant things in the earlier years, but I love that you can see what a well-rounded entertainer she is. Fucking ICON!

Honestly, a lot people's career's pale in comparison to Bran's. No shade to Jill Scott because I love her music but if she can get honored then it's possible for ol girl. After all, it's The Soul Train Awards/BET. I truly don't deem anyone here after as worthy of being honored in any fashion except Badu. Bran IMO is the last of the diva era (Whitney, Patti, Mariah..) artist who really ushered in a genre.
yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't say patti tho but that's just me

True. I was just rattling names. But to win a Grammy during a time when so many legends where actively releasing music versus nowadays when the category is full of fillers >>>>

Sade should be honored pretty soon. much sooner than any younger artist than Bran (including some of her generation pals)

I mean what were they supposed to say for Human...

Full Moon! PLAT! Afro! critically acclaimed, Gold!
Human... top 40 hit is rarely acknowledged by the artist herself :udontlookok:
I mean it sold more than 2/11 and that got a mention
a nice little "Brandy returned in 2008 reuniting with frequent collaborator Rodney Jerkins for Human, which included her most recent top 40 hit "Right Here Departed!"
ver tru
a big parta Humans sales were due to lack of promotion
would be nice to get more people IN, even 8 yrs late

Lets not forget without Brandy's Covergirl contract, dolls, movies, and shows, the black girls that are on top wouldn't even be there.

How many of your favs make history that some mite actually care about.
First black person never to be killed in a horror flick
First black Cinderella

It tickles me every time I see white and Asians go up for Brandy MOTHERFUCKERS TRAVEL THE WORLD FOR OUR GIRL.

When Brandy first did Broadway, there were people coming from Asia to see her. Other places too.  I cant remember those. I was like, wow!  :stressed:

Brandy's career is very pop cultured. The projects she accomplished are tied to some legendary shit.
!!!!!!

That's what I was wondering

Seems like they left out all things too "pop"

I Know What You Did, Cover Girl, Human :dead:

It sold like 20k more in a better sales climate hun

Put It Down felt bigger to me, personally  & Two Eleven was critically acclaimed and was kind of a trendsetter.

It > Human :letsmessfag:

Monika

They. Left out Covergirl and ISKWYDLS?  :uhh:

Hmmm, that's weird. Yall sure? So they will not mention them in the tribute video?

thats nice, but if 2/11 got a mention, Human should have too that's all. No need to argue and compare them
