The director even called it a flop

He literally said "massive flop"

Besides that, the director, Peter Berg, said in an interview that the movie was a flop. It is highly unlikely that there will be a sequel to that movie. Resources: Battleship director says he's finally figured out why it was a massive flop.

Boy that aint nowhere near a flop. Some of these comic movies dont even do that.  There's no sequel cause it wasn't fckn good and no one wants one.  Doesnt mean THIS one didn't do good.  Rih so damn successful

That's no different than them trying to paint suicide squad and Batman VS Superman as super terrible. I saw oh dropped THIS PERCENTAGE in second week and the movie damn near made a billion dollars. However y'all wanna spin it, the movie did pretty ok. Whether it was good or not is a completely different discussion

Hun, the movie fucking FLOPPED. 

When you spend that much on a movie and make $65 million domestically, it's a flop.
