OVERRATED?

no back up dancers... no special effects. just him.

Well him and janet aint got the vocals for a real live mess
And they fell into a samey rut performance wise
Janet pushes boys and jumps around and does rythymn nation while cooing and lipping
Michael kicked and spun and heeheed and  crotch grabbed and does remeber the time while cooing and lipping

Both became late performers simply because of the redundancy and lack of re invention but
When it was fresh it was epic

In ppuls minds it never gets old but it does

I think it's kinda hard to say he's overrated as a performer when he kinda invented the modern pop performance as we see it today. The kids are still latched onto his scalp for performance inspiration daily.

We are viewing performances from the 80s with a 2016 lens. Of course a telephone pales in comparison to a IPhone, but who ever invented the phone is king.

Michael was REVOLUTIONARY for HIS time on this earth. No matter how many times Beyonce snatches his stage presence, the Weeknd uses his vocal, or Chris latches on to his production, he was still the first to do it. The first can never be overrated.

No matter how many times Beyonce snatches his stage presence,

Ignorance is bliss.

MJ was a great performer especially considering the time era he was in. The dynamics of live performing is different from
The way it is now today. These days stages are bigger, lighting, camera, and sound are better, choreography is better, etc

I mean, who else but Michael would hit the stage and stand there for damn near 2 minutes saying nothing, building suspense only to drop the music with wind, lights, and pyro. I can't think of  anyone else. Beyonce does it at every show and that's just one thing.
