Probably not but Matthew was pretty blatant about DC serving as a launching pad for Bey's solo career.

Having her sing leads on damn near every song in their catalogue
Picking girls who he knew couldn't compete with her vocally
Placing a bunch of brown girls next to the lightskinned ~lead singer (wasn't Tina making the gorls get tans?  )

Matthew and Tina had a solid plan and it worked.

some of you guys are deluded.  all of the girls from destinys child outside of latavia are successful in their own right. you guys act as if they are giving pcd/swv/tlc kinda feels.

they are still very relevant performing on par if not better with most of the girls sales/singlewise these days. the bitches were talented.
i'm sorry, if beyonce was gonna cut it solo she needed destiny's child she used to be a mess back in the dc days. she needed all the grooming etc it allowed her... that's final.
