I love how everyone goes in on DC for Beyonce singing lead, but ya'll got the nerve to act like SWV and TLC weren't fronted by lead vocalists.  Especially SWV!

Chilli didn't even sing a solo lead on any of the singles until "No Scrubs".  Dallas kept her singing "oooh'" & "aah's" like Michelle.  And Lisa stayed getting YANKED out.  That's why she was so pissed.  But HARMONY!  REAL GROUP!

She could've but it would've been very Ashanti-esque as far as performances go, IMO. DC def. helped Bey prepare for a solo career.

Initially Leelee sung all the leads in SWV and on their debut album she didn't like how her voice sounded on the tracks so she stepped aside and let Coko.

T-Boz was TLC's sound. They didn't sound like no other got group at the time. They had their own distinct sound. I couldn't imagine Chilli leading their singles and becoming successful no offense.
