and? her voice is still weak in comparison. It's cute tho, not tryna discredit her

DC was huge. Beyonce was DC.

Nothing would have changed besides the bg vocals.

Matthew, Tina, and Beyonce made that group. The others were irrelevant to dc success and were easily replaceable.

Beyonce would have been a global teen superstar.

Bey has always been a vocal BEAST and Smell' has always and will always be inferior :plzstop: Bills, Bills, Bills adlibs shit all over every Smell' Rowland album vocally tbh

beyonce is NO ONE's vocal BEAST!!!!!  :uhh: :uhh: :uhh: let's not be deluded. even she knows that. look at the music she records now. she stopped trying to give vocal supreme and gave ratchet rap/sing&b ... this is no shade at all. we gotta do what works... she performs and sells the FUCK out of HER MUSIC now that I LOVE about her...

Bey sings down  :ermm:

Opposites Attract.

But the girls are confused

Whatmakes Teresa so great I'm faster, stronger  :butim16robert:

Bey isn't the best singer or dancer

But she's able to harness the power of both at full potential

This is why she is the #1

A story of the lead singer of the group becoming an even bigger solo artist is just a better a story.

There are only a few that have done it and all of them are legends.

This is why I never got the theory that DC was always just a vehicle in Matthew's master plan for Bee's rise to solo superstardom. There wasn't much precedent for girl group members turned solo superstars back then for him to place all of his eggs in that basket, I mean there was Diana...who else?

Most members of even the most successful groups can't ever break away from being seen as group members, so based on statistics a safer "master plan" would have been to just launch her solo from the start.

The group formed when Bee was 8 years old, at that age solo or group likely didn't even matter. No actually I'd say any 8 year old would much prefer to be able to have what was pretty much 24-7 sleepovers with 3 of their best friends, over doing it alone. All of the girls talk about how much fun they had during that time, from a child prospective it probably felt like their own secret club, if anything that comradery is what made being in the group vs solo more appealing to her.

She always had solo star looks, was the strongest vocalist of the group, and the connection to the industry was her dad who ran the show, typically when someone uses a group to launch their career they usually lack in one of those 3 areas. She didn't need them.

You can argue that she wasn't as polished back then, but first off that's in retrospect, and mainly in comparison to what she eventually became but lers not act like she was getting picked apart for her performances back then, even then she was considered one of the better live singers of the young bunch. Secondly her potential to become what she has become now was always there group or no. Being pushed completely solo from the start would have just forced her to tap into that potential sooner rather than later.

Bey alone would have not been able to compete with Monica, Brandy and Aaliyah...

She would have come out too late and got lost in the shuffle, what made DC cool is that they filled a void of young girls that can actually sing. Their whole shtick was "girl power".

Their very first single literally proclaims them as the "young Supremes" bey was supposed to be the Diana

she did though
tbh she went solo around the time those 3 were at their best artistically
Monica in 03 with So Gone
Full Moon was 1 year prior and Aaliyah's after death hype was still crazy
It's not like in the group ppl looked at them as just a group
Y'all stay complaining about Bey being the focus, but now wanna backtrack
and act like it was a group focus and no one paid her directly any attention
