it's delusional to say that Bey's camp didn't target Shanti and what she was doing

because lest we forget.... if it hadn't been for one bad performance Shanti would've continued to play kick the can with Bey's wig on the charts

I remember in VIBE when Irv Gotti talked about how SHOOK he and everyone at Murder Inc. was when "Crazy In Love" dropped.  He admitted that "Crazy In Love" really was the beginning of the end for Ashanti's reign.

He also did an interview where he said Jay told him at the top of 2003 that he had a record dropping with Bee, and as a friend, he warned him not to drop Ashanti.  Or at least move her project around.  Irv said he wished he would have listened.

Bee was #1 for 17 weeks back to back 'tween "Crazy" and "Bab' Boy".

WHEW!

Bye at this overly romantisized rivalry. These girls were in direct competition (excluding DC3) for all of 8 months or so. And in half that time we knew exactly who was on top. Ashanti and J.Lo wouldve made more sense tbh

That wouldn't have applied either. J Lo was a bigger celeb than Shans before she even started doing music.

n

bad performance
s

it was hun

I'm just saying Shanti first album was HUGE (overly hyped) ... and it's not like their image was that far off from each other

Bey was just able to mentally push herself... particularly in adding dancing to her image
If Ashanti had a bit of Mya's dancing/performance ability she was actually in the position to slay
she would've been kicking Bey's ass way before Rih came along to slice up her blonde lace
