I'm surrounded by indie artists
and it's a GRIND to even make 50k a year... most prolly only make 20k from music and have to have a job as well

the fact that his dad told him to pursue it fully and he would FUND him, that's basically label support
the fact that he could get booked on SNL AND meet the president .... that's label support
the fact you got MEGA features on your mess that prolly costs millions itself, nobody ever talks about
unless all the features on his alberm come out and say they worked with him for free
and even if they did work with him for free, how many other indie artists are going to get high profile features on a "mixtape"
his wardrobe, production budget, marketing and advertising
that's all the equivalent label support

and it's great that he's doing all these great things, I love his personality
but it's kind of wrong for him to perpetuate this started from the bottom mentality when it actually wasn't that bad for him

and he's gonna hurt alot of indie artists who are now SLAPPING their best mess on Soundcloud for free

chile they ain't got a daddy that's richer than a label and connections to even make a half mil deal from Apple.

Idgaf how his album got made,  Im just glad it did.  Chance is a fckn KING tbh. He brought his ass back to Chicago after those grammy wins and is so vocal  and is a true representation of change. He just donated a million dollars to be distributed amongst several chicago public schools, met with the governor to discuss change in our school systems, and even something as simple as buying out all the "Get Out" tickets at one of the neighborhood theaters and telling people to come up all day cause its on him.  This nigga has all of my fckn respect and if he ever does release his music in a traditional way im fckn purchasing

I really don't get his obsession with wanting to seem like some independent artist who's still in the trenches. Whether it was for two weeks or two years, you still had a billion dollar company backing your album.
