So last night I had the opportunity to see singer Monica live in concert for free. Now you know what they say, if it's free, it's for me. I want to start by saying that Monica is gorgeous, and her new hair style looks really good on her. I was front row of course. So she came singing So Gone (mind you) she didn't sing any of her songs in full (not one). Anyway as the show went one of course Monica just had to preach. Typical right but if she didn't do that she wouldn't be Monica right? So as the show is going on I'm just standing there a little bored. With no excitement, no screaming, nothing. Every now and then I would do a little bop but that's all. Me being from the 90s era I grew up on Monica so I thought we could definitely relate. The other kids in the audience was acting like they knew who she really was but clearly that was some bull shit. So the show goes on she gives out a shout out to the late great Whitney and sang You Give Good Love and she sounded good on that. She really cares for a lot. After that segment she also gave a shout out to someone who she up too and admire and of course it will be Brandy and began to sing the Grammy award winning song The Boy Is Mine. She got some brownie points on that. I went off when she started singing that even tho she only did the chorus. Going on... she said she wanted to take it back. So she stared to sing The First Night which hardly anyone knew. Well of course I did ,and she saw me singing along with her. Before you know it she put the mic in my face and said sing with me. Now I'm no vocalist, but of course I wouldn't turn down nothing like that. So I sang with Monica and that was cute and so she earned some more points in my book. My favorite performance was Everything To Me. She really gave me life on that one and Before you walkout of my life. Monica is a good singer not a great singer but she did all what she could have done. I thought to was going to be a sold out event but half of the theater was still have empty. It holds like 800 people but only like 350 ppl were there. I guess it wasn't promoted properly. So I can only imagine how Monica felt when she saw the audience. She didn't perform anything new for her upcoming album Code Red which has been pushed back once against now to just coming soon smh. She did perform her latest single tho. Which hardly anyone knew as well again. She closed with Just one of those days and that was it. She didn't shake or touch anyone hands she just dipped out . The last thing that really pissed ppl off when they were waiting for her to come out the theater and she just got in th e car and rolled out. She didn't wave or roll down the window. Nothing!!!! So nasty and so rude and I honestly if I would have paid to see this show I would have definitely asked for refund. I say that because Monica needs to step up her stage performance ASAP. Get some back ground dancers, lights, a back drop, just do something different and get sexy with it. I give the money a 6 out of 10. She gives me opening act tease. And for a vet that's a no go. I wish her extemely well on her new project. Only time will tell to see what would happen.
