Butterfly is probably MC's hardest. Not even Whitney could.

You mean not even Mariah could. She never nailed it live.

That's the year her voice began is tragic death. But I was talking strictly studio vocals. Whitney couldn't give what MC gave on the actual studio recording.
U sound foolish.  Lovely song but nothing about that is unsingable.......especially to a damn whitney Houston  :dead:

The way MC sung the verses, the softness, the vulnerability, the transitions in and out of her head voice was great. Thats why I said previously MC 's vocal versatility is superior to Whitney's. Whitney gives more of a power vocal all the time. MC could give us a big vocal from start to finish but then give a soft, melismatic delivery. Of course Whitney could sing the song in her prime, just not the way MC could. Same thing applies for songs like Close My Eyes and Underneath The Stars. Thats all.

you clearly are not familiar with Whitney
did you even listen to the song in the OP?
Whitney is not a J Hud, always wailing type singer

Vonc2002

Whitney gives power vocal all the time?  :dead:
Softness, vulnerability, etc are all things whitney was a master of.  Butterfly is a beautiful song but lets be forreal, Mariah whispered thru that entire song up until the bridge.  Iono what u think is so unsingable about that :kii:
Whitney pretty much did all the same shit in IWALY. Now what i would have accepted was u preferring Mariah's whisper rendition but u saying whitney couldn't give what she gave, as if that was some kinda supreme vocal, just sounds stupid
This is my pass to say WHATEVER tf I wanna say about the mess she releases so I don't wanna hear SHIT! Baby mama is a mess of a song btw

This is not the song to chose to compare to I'm your baby tonight tho.

Carry on. Whitney is an absolute beast but Mariah is an beast too. Not sure why people acting like its a no contest type of thing.

Kurama

Ill never vote for a vocal other than Whitney (in her prime) .

ssssssssssss
Whit is superhuman

Nothing like her since Aretha, took YEARS to come around

so are you telling me Whit wasn't SWEATING when that curly mixed mane started slaying the scene not even a decade after her :dead:

Back then they were definitely equal .... only vocally
Performance is a different thing to me

I thought this would be about people who ruined their voices, and ironically these 2 would be the best sibjects of that thread, too.
