Dumb logic is thinking that because some black parents supposedly fail to teach their children black history that it should relieve others of the responsibility as well. When you go out of your way to take in a child of a different race or culture, YOU also take on the responsibility of teaching them who they are and where they come from. They're not just there for photo ops.

I agree 10000%

If I adopted an Asian bvy I'd definitely do research and teach him his origins

He'd be exposed to mine naturally anyway but should know of his own

Why expect more from them than you would of actual black parents. It's plenty of coons, raised by blacks, that don't know shit about black history.

to some degree, yeah

I agree with you...

But also, it's hard to judge...
it's going to come down to individuals (the parents) and how they raise their children
regardless of race

But also, most black parents don't get a chance to teach their children about black history... the children experience what being black is, on a daily basis.

But then that also depends on where these children grow up... the environment.
There's just so much many different factors.

Yeah but in this specific instance we're talking about mixed race adoptive families. There's nothing wrong with having the expectation that those parents would make it a priority to educate themselves and their children about their heritage. That's part of the package when you go that route.

I don't know if it's a caribbean thing?
But we (my family) have never sat down and talked about BLACK HISTORY in depth
The shit is right in front of us, everyday... we talk about the present... and the challenges we may have.

Like, we know the basics of course.

But a real sit down... and here's a history lesson... no.
We know what it is.

I don't think my sister has had a black history lesson with my nephews.
It's just a "don't wear a hoodie, don't combat the police..." info.
My nephew knows the deals.  He reads.  We read.  He sees and experiences daily life shit.  We've seen documentaries/movies.  We know.  The history.
