But also, most black parents don't get a chance to teach their children about black history... the children experience what being black is, on a daily basis.

But then that also depends on where these children grow up... the environment.

Yeah but in this specific instance we're talking about mixed race adoptive families. There's nothing wrong with having the expectation that those parents would make it a priority to educate themselves and their children about their heritage. That's part of the package when you go that route.

But we (my family) have never sat down and talked about BLACK HISTORY in depth
The shit is right in front of us, everyday... we talk about the present... and the challenges we may have.

Like, we know the basics of course.

But a real sit down... and here's a history lesson... no.

My nephew knows the deals.  He reads.  We read.  He sees and experiences daily life shit.  We've seen documentaries/movies.  We know.  The history.
