I definitely wanted a POP out album, but it's like she ran to the big names and of course they gave her some watered down mess like the big name producers always give her (Darkchild "Pucker Up," Trick & the Dream "Ride," fckin Dr. Luke didn't give a SINGLE fuck--every beat he gave her was LIFELESS)
I think she learned her lesson. She's never been a Katy Perry, pop girl. Urban is her base. She should never do a full out EDM-esque song ever again. If she touches pop again, it needs to be pop infused with another genre. On Ciara, she gave us Livin It Up and Overdose. Neither of those are pure pop songs, they got lil peaks of old school electric blues or hard bop jazz in there. And those ended up being some of the best songs she's ever recorded.
but she needs to come out with a trap song. It's mandatory at this point.
