It has a lot to do with the script. Taraji is a gifted actress. But I think you all forget that the show is a soap so the campiness will be innately there, but Taraji brings some "umph" to this show. I honestly don't see another actress delivering Cookie the way she does.

i could see monique playing the role but in a completely different, more comedic kind of way.......just monique playing such a dramatic role naturally would have made it comedic....like the interactions with naomi campbell and kitty......kjkjjhj i just keep thinking of moniques interactions with women that the professor was fucking on the parkers..

taraji just doesnt SELL the role to me.
