A lot of latinos identify with their country of origin rather than their race.  She prob views herself as more like JLo, a PR, than a black American woman.

Because that's what she is. Is an African American who is as dark as soot to identify with other soot colored people from Senegal and South Sudan or as a black American, what he a actually is and grew up to be?
