It doesn't sound natural either.

I remember those clips she used to post on Vimeo years ago when she first got with TDE. The way she sings now is strange.

I've been watching a lot of her recent interviews.  She said she's been trying to find her voice.  When she toured with the last album, she said she was singing the songs a lot different than they were recorded.  One of her records came on (studio version) and she was kind of cringing at how airy and soft everything sounded.  When she would get onstage, she would sing them totally different, but she didn't really realize that.

So, that's why a lot of CTRL sounds a lot different, vocally, than a good chunk of her previous stuff.

So does she hate the sound of her voice on recordings?

I like how she sings now but I didn't know if she was forcing it or not. Her live vocals aren't really snatching me like the vocals on the alb though.

I'm not really sure!  She mentioned the band being loud and the crowd being louder kind of subconsciously forced her to start singing louder.  She told a story how someone she got cool with didn't know she sang.  And when her friend put on one of her records, she said she was embarrassed at how it sounded.  And it sounded unfamiliar to her, because she had just got off tour singing the songs totally different.

One thing's for sure....  "Love Galore" is the best song of 2017 so far.

it sounds like she's forcing individuality. Like she's putting on a hood girl edgy gurl accent. That alone took me out the performance
