Yeah when I'm on ID service in the clinic. I am always stunned; people want to push Prep but to me there are so many people I have personally had come in for appointments because they have seroconverted allegedly on "Prep" even though when they do seroconvert my attending always says no way, they either lying or they weren't using it right.
I always know when someone's gonna be positive though; especially when they come in with the Syphillis. The other day I couldn't help but chuckle at this one patient because they bring their ass in every 4 weeks faithfully, like I must be immune or something no Prep for me yadada and bam he was positive. I remember chuckling to myself as I was walking back in to show him the pill options and to send him over for a viral RNA and other blood work. I felt bad later, but in that moment i was like that's what your ass gets!
I'm numb to it now, yh I do feel bad when some genuinely makes a mistake they regret, or were that one unlucky person, but for the most part these are adults we're dealing with, they know exactly what they are doing, they probably think they know better than us too.
They way they were fake coming in for PEP and taking out the Truvada pills and using them as PREP used to piss me off
Because they were literally finishing the stocks of PEP we had which people genuinely needed, we were filling all this paperwork and making sure they'd come in for their weekly and bi weekly bloods and they'd dissapear because they and were using them for their own use
Stuff like that should be illegal and carry some kind of sentence.
The medication is expensive enough as it is, and because we're the only country in the world that has free heathcare we pay for everything and it's literally draining up supplies from other departments and resources.
I think I'm going to work for vulnerable children and adults and mental health because at least THEY don't know what they're doing and actually need the help or into teaching and do social and sexual health lessons.
Sick of babying grown ass men and women that are too cheap and "progressive" to buy a pack of condoms.
I swear to god today I'm throwing condoms at everyone that I see whether they want them or not, and then at least I can say I've done my bit.
