He's just a rebellious teen. His parents are at fault for a lot, too. At 15/16, you are just figuring out the world for yourself as opposed to following whatever your parents have told you.
And he figured out his parents have been lying to him his whole life. They are actually drug dealers and murderers. Of corse he's gonna act out in some way
Then his dad left his position in the family for another girl... He's just feeling that the doesn't have to trust anything his parents say. So he's seeking out his own friends. He made bad decisions about the type of friends to have, but that can happen in your teen years
I think he realizes, now, that he's in over his head.
