I have to just be a bit straightforward and say that dealing with Bentley has been just a bit challenging this week. Seems he's uncomfortable with the fact that I choose to acknowledge my Native family line and heritage - he referred to it all as "exotic", but that could be the problem in itself.
Many people should stop reducing Native American heritage to an aesthetic - stop reducing it to something sexy or edgy. Stop reducing it to Pocahontas. Maybe then when someone who actually has Native American ancestors chooses to acknowledge them, you'll see it as something other than some sort of attempt to be "exotic". Exotic is a look or location, not a heritage or history.
Maybe he's OK with it, but I'm just judging by comments and threads that were made. He kept it general and passive, but I'm choosing to be direct in this post.

well first thank you for opening up on this issue, classy and respectful dialogue is the only way to ... "tackle" these types of discussions, more or less.
am mean that thread was no shade, I could kinda feel like you felt it was ... and you're right, we have to be direct, we're getting better at having dialogue without lashing out (damn cancers lolz)
Basically, I feel like out of the MANY results that came back on your test pointing directly to regions in Africa, you only objectify and "rep" the heritages with "lighter" skin tones (plz dn't be mad, just my views on it lolz)
it's Indian one day, Khoi-Zan the next. and I know we disagree on this, but you honestly DID say at one point Dominican. And I personally believe that to be a form of fetishizing these heritages, and I feel like alot of ppl would be offended. And it's great that those things show up in traces, I think it was 2.5 percent or something like that? (correct me if I'm wrong please.)
But, and my opinion, I just don't believe you actually identify with these groups, because for all practical purposes... in America... you're BLACK. And I'm not tryna be ghetto, and do the whole
"oh she thinks she's better" routine, but as a BLACK person, I just had to speak out and make it known, quite simply, you don't face Indian gorl problems, you face BLACK gorl problems.
so it's fun to do this ancestry stuff sis, but I'm simply explaining to you the importantance for us to be mindful cause ... do you honestly connect with the struggles of an Native American woman or man in America?
