Herb.

I can see why some may not be as critically receptive of EMPIRE as other shows. It has more of an entertainment element than anything, whereas shows like HTGAWM dig a little deeper and make the viewer think a bit more. It's understandable why some many regard EMPIRE as "trash" "low class", etc.

I have to admit, watching the second episode, I just saw stereotype after stereotype. From hip hop, to the black men in prison, etc. But this is reality for many of us black men, so you cannot be too mad at the scripting.

Yea, the show is so bad. Hopefully this is the last season.

The homosexuality factor definitely put me off from the get-go.

Knew it would sink sometime though.

sink into a diet and exercise program

HTGAWM is going down in ratings each week.

Yeah, but the discussion here is critical acclaim, not ratings. There is a difference.

What happened to this show?

I had to switch it off when Lucious was in jail recording that song...sounding like someobody's grandpa

Jamal can't sing.

The songs are so corny. The plot is all over the place. Why was Kelly Rowland even there?  :uhh:

I gave it a chance. But I'm done watching this shit.

Right. As I said, it seeks more of a pure entertainment factor than anything else. The musical performances, guest appearances, etc. Depth is clearly the least of their concerns.

I'd compare it to a pop artist vs. the deep indie artist.

Pop artist makes their music catchy, easy to remember and simple. sells more, but is seen as trash to many people. Deep indie artist gets all the critical acclaim, but almost never see as many sales.

Mmm hmmm but the girls are worried about the ratings cuz to them ratings = success.

I have seen people trashing Murder too.

And the fact that Murder features a prominently white casts can give it a little bit of lee-way. You know how niggas are with their hollow subconscious.

yummy

I don't think anyone was bothered by the black men in jail, the show is poorly written. The dialogue, everything.

Well that was something I was bothered by then. lol

Otherwise I like the show :supluv:

I mean if you don't go into the show expecting Emmy worthy performances you won't end up disappointed. If I want depth and plots and mess I'll watch HTGAWM (which I don't watch cuz I find it to be draining sometimes) sss
