Since being accused of running a sex cult and allegedly holding women against their will in his home, R. Kelly has had a tough time making any new fans. Now, the singer has proved once again his popularity is diminishing when promotion for a new song backfired.
On Tuesday (Sept. 12), the Chicago artist attempted to promote a new song with an ill-advised tweet and photo. ?All it takes is one ?yes? to change your life. #WaitOnIt #MorningsWithKellz #RKelly,? he tweeted, along with a photo of the word ?No? written multiple times with one ?Yes? in between.
As one could imagine, the tweet quickly caught the ire of many, forcing Kelly to delete the tweet. ?How exactly did you wake up and think this would be a good idea?? asked one person. ?So you just don?t think huh? No PR rep or anything huh?? another person tweeted.
In July, a report from BuzzFeed News claimed parents and former associates of Kelly believed the 50-year-old singer was running an abusive cult in his Atlanta and Chicago homes. The report alleged the women living with Kelly were not allowed to use their phones or the bathroom without permission.
Representatives for the singer quickly dismissed the claims, saying, ?Mr. Robert Kelly is both alarmed and disturbed by the recent revelations attributed to him. Mr. Kelly unequivocally denies such accusations and will work diligently and forcibly to pursue his accusers and clear his name.? Police recently gave Kelly a visit at home, and one of the women?s fathers even joined them.
