Playboy's first transgender Playmate, Ines Rau, will make her editorial debut in an upcoming issue of the magazine that will also feature a lengthy tribute to its founder, Hugh Hefner, who died in September at 91.

The Nov./Dec. 2017 issue of the magazine will feature the French model in a photo editorial on its inner pages and Hefner on its cover.

Rau, 26, is not the first trans woman to appear in Playboy, but she is the first to be dubbed a "Playmate" ? a coveted title among the publication?s models.

"It's how I celebrated my coming out, actually," Rau told Playboy. "I took that chance, and then I signed with an agency."

Rau has appeared in Vogue Italia and in an ad campaign for the fashion house Balmain. She recently penned a book deal and filmed a scene in an upcoming film.

The newest Playmate said that she is an advocate for the LGBTQ community and will "always fight for (their) rights and women's rights. I'm an advocate for anyone who is scared to be who they really are because they fear being judged or rejected," she told the site.

"I lived a long time without saying I was transgender," she said. "I dated a lot and almost forgot. I was scared of never finding a boyfriend and being seen as weird. Then I was like, You know, you should just be who you are. It's a salvation to speak the truth about yourself, whether it's your gender, sexuality, whatever. The people who reject you aren't worth it. It's not about being loved by others; it's about loving yourself."
