Because if it's the latter then yeah, Madonna DEFINITELY is not respected. Everyone thinks she's try hard and attention seeking these days (and I say that as a fan).

Madonna & Mariah are respected in terms of impact in music and their legend status but they themselves are DEFINITELY not respected.

This decade has been absolutely terrible for their careers and their legacy.

Janet is respected as well but that's because of JT/Superbowl so it's not really her fault.

I think Britney is more a pop culture staple than a respected musician. Nothing she did was all the innovative or different, but it was certainly memorable.

Rihanna will probably be looked at the same way.

I wouldn't necessarily say this is true.

For example, many people in the industry have praised Nicki and say they admire her and her talent but some of the general public don't like her because of the way she presents herself in a sexual manner with her looks and music.
