Why would her mother speak so candidly about the abuse tho? Because she knew it wouldn?t come up she hadn?t?

XXX.

The abuse heightened Rihanna's celebrity and made her a household name.  It was the hottest topic of that year before Michael Jackson died.  I still remember Oprah talking to the camera and telling her, "He will hit you again!" :omf:  I don't think she's ever gotten as much press as she did that year.

She also was met with the best album reviews of her career while Chris was met with the lowest (he received a lot of 0-star reviews).  8 years later, Rated R is still her highest rated album on Metacritic.

I don't think there were immediate commercial results or anything tangible to prove the abuse was a benefit to her career.  But in the overall picture of her as an artist, it added a compelling component to her story that helped transition her from an it-girl to an artist with depth and a story.

So, did it "help" her career?  IDK.  But it pushed her forward in the right direction and prevented a likely GGGB 2.0.

Tamar better thank her mama. Most people hate her and being a domestic violence victim can do wonders for a career, just ask Rihanna.
Domestic abuse did NOTHING for Rihanna's career :dead:

It actually did ; no shade
It actually didn't.  She got alot of press from it but in no way did it catapult her somewhere or skyrocket her career. Not when the album prior to the incident sold more, had more hits, etc. What he more than implied was that incident made Rihanna "RIHANNA" and it most certainly did not

I didn't imply that.
I said what I said.
That incident was press and people around the world learned who she was who may not have known who she was otherwise.
I never said it started her career or that she didn't have one prior.

GLOCK

Yeah I?ll say it help open the flood gates for her to EDGE it the fuck up with no remorse and be able to do what the fuck she wanted to do!

It helped her OWN her sexuality fully.. no more young girl.. she just became bad ass!

The abuse made her dark and grown and edgy. It helped her transition into adulthood a lot.
ill agree with this

!!!

Not only that but people were rooting for her IMO
That was a huge situation

I feel like we embraced the dark Rih even more because of it

Her team knew how to flip the shit to her benefit perfectly. To the point that after the dark era we were feeining for the colorful LOUD Rih, her most successful era.
GGGB is her most successful era and still her most successful album.  Y'all just talking to talk  :dead:

LOUD and GGGN without the rerelease are similarly successful with Loud having more number ones. Had they stretched the era out for two years, it?d have been also double plat
Are u kidding me? :dead: GGGB is her most successful era, PERIOD! U can't try to exempt a rerelease to prove a point. The rerelease was because the album was doing so well and they wanted to extend it. That album sold 3 million copies and is at 5x platinum
GGGB has the most successful singles of Rihanna's career. Umbrella, take a bow, and Disturbis all went #1 not to mention all the other hits. That album is her most successful. So how can that incident have made rihanna when no other album has eclipsed the album that came out BEFORE the incident? Please be tf quiet
This is my pass to say WHATEVER tf I wanna say about the mess she releases so I don't wanna hear SHIT! Baby mama is a mess of a song btw

Young

That?s why I know this chunky Jerry curl era is a setup

It?s gonna be so perfect

And now she?s gonna have mega machine money

we Really haven?t seen her best :ack:
